U.S. Consul General Sheila Gwaltney Visits Petrozavodsk
On March 3-4, 2009, U.S. Consul General Sheila Gwaltney visited Petrozavodsk and met with local government officials representing both the city itself and the Republic of Karelia. On the first day of her visit, Consul General Gwaltney met with Mr. Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Republic of Karelia. They discussed a variety of topics during their meeting including opportunities for U.S. investors in the Republic of Karelia. During ssembly as well as the City Council where she met with Acting Mayor of Petrozavodsk Anatoly Buldakov. Ms. Gwaltney also took advantage of her visit to get together with the alumni of various U.S. Government programs at the American Corner and to learn more about artists from the region at the Karelian Museum of Fine Arts.
